Ijevan Youth Capital of the RA for 2018

The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Armenia declared Ijevan as Youth Capital of the Republic of Armenia for 2018.

The following are the goals of the annual Youth Capital of the Year of the Republic of Armenia competition:

• to promote the proportional development of the provinces of the Republic of Armenia;
• to enhance faithful and partnering relations between cities, as well as at the local, republican and international levels in the youth initiatives and youth policy sectors; • encourage the authorities of the cities of the Republic of Armenia to develop a modern and effective model for implementation of the youth policy at the local level;
• to foster the development of youth organizations and infrastructures within the provinces of the Republic of Armenia.

Let us remind that the Youth Capital of the Year of the Republic of Armenia Program has been held by the RA Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs since 2013. In 2014, the city of Sisyan was elected the youth capital of the year, followed by the city of Gyumri in 2016 and the city of Charentsavan in 2017. The cities that had submitted applications for the competition for Youth Capital of the Republic of Armenia for 2018 were the cities of Gavar (RA Gegharkunik Province), Ijevan (RA Tavush Province) and Jermuk (RA Vayots Dzor Province). Based on the expert evaluation of the applications and the results of the SMS voting, the city of Ijevan of the RA Tavush Province was recognized as the Youth Capital of the Republic of Armenia for 2018.
